Status symbols

Your phone displays a number of small pictures, or icons, known as status symbols. These provide important information at a glance, such as:

Battery: This symbol shows your current battery level.

An icon of a padlock

Reception bars

Reception bars: A stronger connection means your calls will be clearer. It also means you can send and receive texts more easily.

Some areas do not receive mobile coverage. These are known as black spots. When you are in a black spot you will be unable to see any reception bars, receive calls or send texts.

Network provider

You will see your mobile phone network provider's name here.

3G/4G/5G/LTE: These symbols show that your phone is connected to mobile data, which means you can use the internet.

These symbols may change automatically depending on the strength of your mobile network connection.

An icon of a padlock

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi: When this symbol is showing, it means you are connected to Wi-Fi and not using your mobile data.

Some public places offer free Wi-Fi services, but you should only connect to them if it's a company or network you trust.

These free Wi-Fi services may not be secure and shouldn't be used for personal information.

Date and time

Date and time: When your phone is locked, the date and time will display.

An icon of a padlock

Notifications

Notifications: When your phone receives texts, emails or other updates, notification alerts will appear on screen.
