We’re thrilled to congratulate our students on completing an 8week digital literacy course at the Ahmanson Senior Center! 🎓📱💻
Over the past two months, these dedicated seniors have gained essential digital skills that are empowering them to confidently navigate the online world. Here’s what they’ve learned:
 Navigating web browsers: Students learned to open and manage tabs, adjust browser settings, and seamlessly navigate between different websites.
 Using Gmail and Google apps: They mastered sending emails, organizing their inboxes, and making the most of Google’s suite of apps, such as Google Calendar and Google Drive.
 Managing files and folders: Whether organizing documents on their computer using File Explorer or backing up important files to Google Drive, they’ve become proficient at staying organized both locally and in the cloud.
 Creating accounts and filling out online forms: A crucial skill in today’s digital age, students learned to create email accounts for online communication. This is essential not only for sharing resources and events but also for receiving tickets and receipts for online purchases. As part of their lesson, students were instructed to purchase tickets to the LA Philharmonic’s YOUTH OF LOS ANGELES (YOLA) orchestra performance. They navigated dropdown menus to select dates and seats, ensured all form fields were correctly filled, and successfully completed their ticket purchases with stepbystep guidance.
 Downloading and managing etickets:Â
After purchasing their tickets, students learned to download their etickets, with some opting for screenshots while others printed their tickets, ensuring they were prepared for the event.
The course concluded with a special digital lesson that took them beyond the classroom—a field trip to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. On the day of the performance, the group successfully navigated the experience, sitting together with Allie, their Digital Navigator, who guided them through the 8week course.
This course was more than just a series of lessons; it was about providing our seniors with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. We couldn’t be prouder of their progress and accomplishments!
